Detailed guidance on making ill-health decisions and processing a referral to an independent doctor are contained in our two Ill-Health Pension Process Guidance Notes. Appendix E of Guidance Note 1 sets out all the documents available for the ill-health process and when they should be used.
Key forms for the ill-health process are as follows:
IHCERTA1: The main ill-health certificate completed by the employer and the independent doctor
IHRC: Where your chosen IRMP has no specific consent form, to be completed by the member to allow the release of medical records to the independent doctor; this generic form may be used.
Legal-General-ill-health-liability-insurance-form: The form that enables pension strain costs associated with Tier 1 and Tier 2 ill-health cases to be recovered through our Fund level ill-health liability insurance
